5 Good Reasons For Using Yahoogroups To Start Your Own Ezine

Ezine Information
5 Good Reasons For Using Yahoogroups To Start Your Own Ezine
by: Silvia Hartmann
List servers and list serving software can be a TOTAL NIGHTMARE. Trust me, I know ...

If you are new to Internet Marketing, or just new to the way of web business, and there's all these other things to learn and think about, there are five VERY good reasons to leave commercial list serving software systems alone for now and simply use a Yahoogroup to do all the work for you.

1. EVERYBODY Knows ...

... what a Yahoogroup is, and even if they don't, they'll soon pick it up. By using Yahoogroups, you are tapping into a long, long established institution that is globally known and trusted; this will make it much easier to get people who don't really know you yet to subscribe to your ezine or newsletter.

2. Yahoogroups are very easy.

Even for absolute beginners, Yahoogroups are easy to set up and easy to manage. You don't have to worry about the vagaries of AOL emails, double opt in procedures, anti-spam declarations, unsubscription features or any of it, it's all taken care of for you. They also come with little sign up boxes and buttons, and the admin interface, although not exactly intuitive, can soon be worked out by trial and error.

3. Yahoogroups messages don't get caught in spam filters.

Spam filters are the SCOURGE of ezines and email delivery. When you send your messages via the Yahoogroups delivery system, this is not a problem; as Yahoo is such a mega beast, it has its own exceptions in mostly all spam filters known to mankind and your messages WILL at least reach their intended recipients.

4. Yahoogroups have useful extra features.

You can do a lot with a Yahoogroup if you are willing to spent some time on it. Weblinks, an attractive group page, bookmarks, file downloads and more are all available for the beginner web entrepreneur to optimise and use, easily at that.

5. Yahoogroups are FREE.

Alright, so the group messages carry third party advertising, but that is a very small price to pay for access to a system that can easily and very elegantly serve hundreds of thousands of messages, that is reliable and steady and so well known. Other than that, there are no set up fees, no ongoing charges, and it's there for you whenever you want it.

Once you are ready to do so, you can export your list and put it on your own personal commercial list server systems, complete with technicians who take care of everything behind the scenes - until then, and if you haven't done this before, to simply use Yahoogroups for ezine delivery is a really good way to get started with your ezine and to build up your subscriber base.

5 Keys to Unlock the Waitlist Lock

Essay Writing Tips
5 Keys to Unlock the Waitlist Lock
by: Linda Abraham

Being wait-listed is tough, and you need the right set of keys to open the door to your dream program. The truth is that even with these keys, it's still not guaranteed that the lock will work. But this keychain has the critical pieces of metal you'll need to turn that lock.

First, a word of introduction: Realize that receiving a wait-list letter means you qualify for admission. You pass. You are probably on the wait-list (and not admitted) because they have already admitted applicants with your profile and want diversity in the class. Or they find your qualifications impressive, but find someone else's even more so.

Now let's examine that keychain.

Key 1: Read the letter for any hints of deficiency in your profile and attempt to improve that element in your profile.

Key 2: Give them more reasons to admit you. If the school encouraged contact, inform it of new achievements, initiatives, promotions, and developments in your life. This suggestion implies developing a proactive campaign for contact roughly every 2-3 weeks. The exact particulars will vary depending on your school, specialty, and exactly when you are put on the wait list, but it can include letters, additional visit(s) to the school, an offer to interview, letters of support from others, and occasional phone calls.

Letters should be 1-2 pages. For tips on the letters' content, please see "Wait-list Purgatory."

Key 3: Reinforce the idea of a fit between you and the school. Demonstrate how a visit confirmed and deepened your interest in the program. Show how recent activities reveal that your values and the school's are a match made in heaven.

Key 4: Enlist your fan club. Seek additional letters of recommendation from supervisors on and off the job and professors (if applying to an academic program). Current students and recent alumni who know you can also write letters of support and emphasize your fit with the program.

Key 5: Ask if there is anything you can do to improve your candidacy. There usually isn't, but if there is you want to know about it and do it. If you have already demonstrated improvement in that aspect of your profile, let them know how you have improved since you applied.

It is much harder to wave the flag when the school doesn't want contact. But even in these cases, you can be proactive, just more indirect. If feasible, visit the school and take a tour. If you know alumni or faculty members, ask them to put in a good word for you at the school. You can't be responsible if your fan club thinks you belong at School X and wants to inform the admissions committee. You will have to be a little more indirect, but you still want someone to show fit and that "new and improved" you. For must-have information on the wait-list process, read "Nine Mistakes You Don't Want to Make on an MBA Waitlist." 5 Ways to Market Your Business For Free - Part I

eMarketing Information
5 Ways to Market Your Business For Free - Part I
by: Jinger Jarrett
Getting traffic and sales to your site can be a constant struggle. I know that I am bombarded with marketing information day in and day out offering me the "next big thing".

However, there are some marketing methods that always work. That's why I stick with the classics.

You can use these methods to build more traffic and sales to your site if you are willing to do a little planning.

Below are marketing methods I use to drive traffic to my site. With long term marketing strategies, it will take you awhile to get traffic, but these methods are still worth it because they can be highly viral.

1. Free Search Engines (Long Term Marketing Strategy)
Although free search engines aren't as effective as they used to be, you can still use them to get traffic to your site.

The easiest way to do this is to use a program like Web CEO, http://www.smallbusinesshowto.com/search.html

The first thing you need to do is to select low competition, highly searched for words. Then optimize indidvidual pages for these words and do your submissions.

2. Article Writing (Short - Long Term Marketing Strategy)
Article writing will do several things for your business.

First, it will brand you as an expert, allow you to build a linking strategy for your website, and even improve your search engine rankings if you optimize your article.

You can also create a viral marketing strategy here because content is an important marketing strategy online. An article you have written today could continue to draw traffic to your site years from now.

Instead of using the push method of marketing, where you are trying to push visitors to your site, you are using the pull method. This method is much more effective because it draws visitors to you.

Article directories you should consider submitting to are:

http://www.ezinearticles.com
http://www.goarticles.com
http://www.articlecity.com
http://www.ideamarketers.com
http://www.articlemarketer.com

3. Forums (Short - Long Term Marketing Strategy)
Forums not only allow you to network with others in your field, you can also network with potential customers who are looking for information on what you sell.

The important thing to remember here is not to blatantly promote what you are selling. Answer questions. Build credibility. Include a signature block in your posts with a link to your website.

The Forums Package will help you with finding, tracking, and using forums to help you promote using forums. You can get it here: http://www.smallbusinesshowto.com/forums/

To find forums on your topic, do a search with your topic plus the search term forums.

4. Ezines (Long Term Marketing Strategy)
Everyone has one these days. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't offer one. You can use it to let your customers know about new products and services, updates to your site, as well as giving news and information about your industry. You can write articles and free reports to give to your list readers.

Ezine Directories you can submit to:
http://www.jogena.com
http://www.zinos.com
http://www.ezine-marketing.com
http://www.ezine-dir.com/

5. Blogging (Short - Long Term Marketing Strategy)
Blogging is the latest way to promote your business online. You can offer information on your industry, articles, downloads, and updates about your business.

You can even turn your blog into an ezine the way I did with mine and automate the whole process of subscription and distribution.

Blogs are also an easy way to create constantly updated content. Just make sure that you write posts of at least two paragraphs, and not a sentence or two. Search engines perceive this as spam.

You can easily set up your blog on Blogger, http://www.blogger.com, although I would recommend that you eventually migrate it to your own server.

RSS Directories to Submit to:
http://www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55/
http://www.pingomatic.com

Although there are more marketing methods you can use to help you market your business online for free, these will get you started.

In my next article, I'll show you five more methods of marketing online for free that will help you drive even more traffic to your site.

3 Simple Ways To Save A Bunch Of Money When Buying A New Computer

Email Marketing Information
3 Simple Ways To Save A Bunch Of Money When Buying A New Computer!
by: Kris Bickell
Looking to buy a new computer?

Overwhelmed by all of the options available to you?

Stressed by the high cost of computers today?

For most people, buying a new computer does not have to be as stressful as buying a new car. Nor does it have to be as expensive. If you’re like most people, and you have a limited budget for buying a computer, then you need to try to get as much computer for your money as possible.

Here are 3 simple ways anyone can save money when buying a new computer:

1) Shop around for best deal.

Sounds pretty obvious. But many people don’t realize they don’t need the fastest, most expensive computer with the most “extras”. In fact, if you are already using an older computer, even the least expensive new computer will be a big upgrade. If you don’t know a lot about computers, you can learn a lot by shopping around. Ask lots of questions, compare prices, compare features, then find the best price. Shop at your local electronics store, and look for the best deals online. You’ll be surprised at how much money you can save by shopping around!

2) Install your own “extras”

Many computers you will find in a store have a lot of extra software already installed. While this is convenient, it is not always the best way for you to save money. Also, while many of these extras sound good, you don’t always need them. You can often find better deals by shopping around separately for your own software extras (such as a word processor, anti-virus, popup blocker, spyware removal, games, etc). And some of these you can get for free. So before you buy the “fully loaded” computer, ask yourself if you really need all the extras, then shop around to see if you can buy a scaled down computer - and get the extras yourself for much less!

3) Don’t buy extended warranty

If you are not a computer “techie”, the extended warranties offered by the computer retailers often sound like a good idea. After all, who wants to be bothered paying for service on a computer after you buy it. But keep in mind that most computers come with a warranty, and most computer problems will either happen at the beginning (when you still have the warranty in effect) or much later (when it might be cheaper to buy a new computer). Technology changes very quickly these days. So consider whether or not it’s worth the inflated price of the extended warranty. And, if you really feel you need the extended warranty, then ask to purchase it at a lower price. Not all retailers will negotiate on the warranty, but some will. And whether you buy the extended warranty or not, make sure you back up all your files periodically, just in case!

If you have an unlimited budget, consider yourself lucky. And if you do business on the computer, make sure you get what you need, while trying to keep the price down. At any price, buying something that does not fit your needs is not a good deal.

Hope you find these tips helpful, and happy computer shopping!

3 Ways To STOP Affiliate Link "Hijackers"

Ebook Information
3 Ways To STOP Affiliate Link "Hijackers"
by: Jim Edwards
(c)2002 Jim Edwards - all right reserved

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Let's face the facts!

Almost everyone online today is looking to make or save a buck any way they can. In the past, most of the people who clicked on your affiliate links used to purchase without a second thought... but, as times get tougher online, it seems a growing number won't!

As money gets tighter and product prices rise, people who know how to manipulate the system will sometimes replace your affiliate ID with theirs and "hijack" your commissions.

Here's an example:

Let's say your affiliate link is www.ebookaboutcats.com/?live-well.

Say the highjacker uses the affiliate ID of captain-hook. What he would do is replace your ID with his, and buy from the URL www.ebookaboutcats.com/?captain-hook.

The bottom line: the hijacker puts your money in his pocket.

In other cases, they can't stand the thought of you "making money off them" so they bypass you by simply chopping off the end of your affiliate link that contains your ID.

Instead of buying from www.ebookaboutcats.com/?live-well, the bypasser will simply "chop off" the affiliate ID at the end and simply buy from the plain URL www.ebookaboutcats.com --without your affiliate ID attached!

Either way, you get cheated out of your rightful commission.

To help you fight these affiliate link hijackers I offer a couple of my best (proven and battle tested) tips, which will at least confuse these "hijackers" and, in many cases, often defeat and disarm them completely.

Side Note: If someone really, really wants to steal your affiliate commission, they will find a way; however, most hijackers are just opportunists who will only act if they see an easy buck.

The first and cheapest way to hide your affiliate links is using a javascript redirect page. This is where you hide your affiliate link in a page on your site using a simple javascript that redirects people to your affiliate link.

It works great not to expose your "naked" affiliate link in your actual email messages and ezine ads, but, once people get redirected to the true affiliate link, many affiliate programs expose the affiliate link along with your ID in the browser address bar.

Here's an example of a redirect script in action. Click => http://www.ebookfire.com/esejs.html

Notice how the link takes you to a page where you can see my affiliate ID, ebookfire, in your web browser's address bar.

Like it or not, someone can replace my ID with theirs and "hijack" the commission... but at least the redirect script keeps them from immediately seeing my "naked" affiliate link (http://hop.clickbank.net/?ebookfire/ebksecrets) when I publish it in my newsletter, email, or on my website.

You can get free redirect scripts just about anywhere you find free javascripts. Here is the script I use http://www.ebookfire.com/jrs.shtml.

A better way to hide your affiliate links is using a zero-frame or "invisible" frame that masks the affiliate link by making it appear you are sending people to a page on your website. In reality, you are actually sending them to your affiliate link.

This is the technique used by those "sub-domain" redirect services that provide you with urls like http://ese.ebookfire.net.

While giving someone a link like that is much better than using a "naked" affiliate link such as http://hop.clickbank.net/?ebookfire/ebksecrets, there is a problem. As soon as someone does a "view >> source" in their web browser they'll see your naked affiliate link plain as day... which instantly blows your cover!

Currently the best way to protect your affiliate commissions from ruthless hijackers is to use a combination of a zero- frame page along with URL encryption. This involves sending someone to URL that looks like a page on your site, but actually pulls in your affiliate link like those "sub- domain" services. However, there's one critical difference...

If someone does a "view >> source" in their browser, you have added protection in that all they will see is a jumble of computer code instead of your naked affiliate link.

Check out this example of a zero-frame with URL encryption in action. Click => http://www.ebookfire.com/ese.html

Side Note: Beware of cloaking scripts that use javascript to mask your affiliate link because they could malfunction in some web browsers.

Here's the bottom line: if you are going to sell through other people's affiliate programs, never send a "naked" affiliate link... you're just asking for people to hijack or bypass you if you do.

If you want to get paid more often through your affiliate links, make sure it's not obvious you're referring people to an affiliate link. If they can't easily see how to hijack or bypass your link, a lot more people who would have taken the money out of your pocket will just go ahead and buy through your link - which is, after all, the whole point! :-)

5 Critical Promotion Mistakes People Make With Articles

Ezine Information
5 Critical Promotion Mistakes People Make With Articles
by: Jim Edwards
(c) Jim Edwards - All Rights reserved
http://www.thenetreporter.com
=====================================

Did you realize that writing and publishing articles online
represents one of the best-kept website traffic secrets?

It's true! In fact, if you learn some basic principles, you
can drive thousands of visitors to your website without
spending any money on advertising. Publishing articles not
only establishes you as an expert in your chosen field, but
also allows you to fly under the natural "radar defenses"
your prospects have against advertising.

But, beware! My experience as a syndicated newspaper
columnist has shown me that people who would otherwise
succeed massively promoting with articles actually fail
because they consistently make one or more of these five
critical mistakes!

Mistake #1 - NOT Defining Your Target Audience

Many article authors make the serious mistake of not
clearly defining a niche audience before writing their
article. Successful article authors always know the exact
"niche" audience they want to reach before they write the
first word.

When targeting your audience, remember this rule: Narrow
and Deep! Always pick an audience with a specific,
pressing, or major interest in a narrow topic!

Mistake #2 - Spamming Ezine Editors

In their desire to cover as much ground as possible, many
article authors resort to spam techniques for submitting
their articles. Instead of tightly targeting appropriate
ezines that cater specifically to their audience, these
authors try to hit "everyone."

By trying to save time, they actually waste every minute
spent writing their article because most ezine editors will
just delete their submissions as spam!

Mistake #3 - Milktoast Topics

You can write the best article in the world, but if your
headline doesn't grab a reader's eyeballs and pull them
into your article - you lose!

Article authors should spend at least half as much time
writing the headline as they spend writing their actual
article.

In fact, an "average" article can get superior results
simply from having a great headline at the beginning.

Mistake #4 - "What's In It For Me"

If they manage to make it past the first 3 pitfalls, many
article authors trip on their shoelaces at this stage of
the process! Don't write about what you want to write
about, only write on topics of high interest to your target
audience.

In other words, give them exactly what they want and they
will love you. Nobody cares how much of an expert you rate
on a particular topic until they know you can deliver
information they need in a way they can use - now!

Mistake #5 - "No Shoe Polish"

You could write an article worthy of the front page of the
Wall Street Journal, but as soon as somebody spots a typo
or misspelling, they immediately put your article lower
than a Sunday sales circular.

Seriously, if you want to undermine all the good you can do
with a great article, send it out without proper spell-
checking!

No matter what product or service you sell, once you
understand the promotion power of free articles, you'll
never look at website traffic generation the same way.

But remember, if you abuse the power, spam ezine editors,
or blatantly pitch people instead of providing real
information, you might as well skip the whole process
altogether.

5 Benefits of Keeping a Personal Journal

Essay Writing Tips
5 Benefits of Keeping a Personal Journal
by: Patti Testerman

Everyone who has kept a personal journal knows that writing is a therapeutic process that helps integrate seemingly unconnected life events. Some believe the process works because the physical act of writing (using your hand-eye coordination) occupies your left brain, leaving your right brain free to access emotions, intuit connections, and create new insights.

How else can journaling help?

1. Journaling reduces stress by getting “monkey mind” thoughts out of your head. Mind chatter is a powerful stressor, stressor is a powerful health-buster, and journaling the chatter is a proven chatter-buster.

2. Writing about problems gives your right brain food for creative problem-solving. It’s amazing what happens when the creative part of your nature starts working on a problem—you’ll soon find solutions bubbling up from your subconscious.

3. Keeping a daily diary is one of the best techniques for discovering patterns, particularly those that are self-defeating. For example, a diary kept over the course of several months will clearly show any reoccurring difficulties like overeating, stress eating, poor (but similar) choices in relationships.

4. Want to better know yourself? Journal. Writing can help clarify your thoughts, your emotions, and your reactions to certain people or situations. In addition, as you read back through past journals, you’ll have ample evidence of the things that make you happy and those that are distressful.

5. Journaling can help clarify events, problems, or options. When you’re beset with a mind full of fuzzy, disconnected thoughts flitting here and there, writing about the event or issue will help bring focus and clarity. It will also help you decide on which action to take, or option to choose.

5 Tips to Help You Identify WHO To Market To

eMarketing Information
5 Tips to Help You Identify WHO To Market To
by: Debbie LaChusa
If you have your own small business, it's important to decide exactly who you will be marketing your products or services to. After all, you probably don't have the time or the money to market to everyone. And even if you did, it is not recommended.
You'll want to select what is called a "target audience." This is an identifiable group of people you believe will be the best prospects for your business.

But for many small business owners, narrowing their focus to one primary group of people can be a challenging task. They want to help everyone — and very often their product or service CAN help a variety of people.

It also goes against human nature to narrow your focus in order to grow a business. Common sense seems to tell us if we want to grow our business big, we need to appeal to more people.

In reality the opposite is true. When we narrow our focus to a particular group of people we become an expert in solving their particular problems. We get to know them very well and we can develop additional products and services to fill their needs.

So how do you decide who to market to?

Following are 5 tips:

1) Think about the type of people who can MOST benefit from what you have to offer.

2) Think about who you would most enjoy helping, or working with.

3. Think about the type of people who will be easiest to reach, AND who will be most receptive to what you are selling. These will be people who KNOW they have THE problem you can solve and are LOOKING for a solution.

4) Know that just because you select a particular group of people to focus your marketing on, does NOT mean you can't help others who may come to you. It only means you're going to focus your proactive marketing efforts on the target group you select.

5) Lastly, don't over-think it. Listen to your gut, pick a group you feel you can really help and proceed with the development of your marketing plan. Marketing is a fluid process. The important thing is to start. You can always refine your audience and your plan later as you learn more.

3 Simple Tips For Making Money Online Even If You Don’t Have Anything To Sell

Email Marketing Information
3 Simple Tips For Making Money Online Even If You Don’t Have Anything To Sell!
by: Kris Bickell
Have an idea about making money online but don’t know where to start?

There are several ways to make money on the Internet – even if you don’t have a product to sell. Keep in mind that running an online business takes time and effort, just like running any business. However, you can get started without any products, which is one less roadblock for most people wanting to start a business.

You don’t need to be a computer expert to run an online business, but you do need to either be able to set up a website, or have the resources to pay someone else to do it for you.

Here are 3 simple ways to make money online even if you don’t have your own product:

Affiliate programs
Being an affiliate means you are selling other people’s products, and you get a percentage of the sale, or you make a small fee for each person who requests more information. Most major retailers offer affiliate programs, along with many smaller retailers (with lots of good products and services). It’s not a good idea to try to compete with an established retailer like Wal-Mart, Target, or Circuit City. A better way to make money is to find a “niche” that serves a smaller group of people, that you can easily reach.

For example, rather than selling sporting goods to everyone, you might start a fishing site that sells canoes and fishing products to people who like fresh water fishing. You can also find smaller retailers who may offer more specialized products to those who know a lot about fishing, while selling the basics from Wal-Mart to beginners.

A good place to start is Commission Junction (http://www.CJ.com), and you’ll get an idea of the products you can offer. Be creative in finding your niche, start with something you know a little about, or enjoy doing, and before long you can be making money online!

Adsense from Google
Adsense is an advertising program from search engine Google.com (there are other advertising programs you can offer, but for now Google’s is the biggest and most popular). By placing ads on your site, you earn money for each person who clicks on the ad. Google will automatically determine which ads are best for your site, based on the topic of each web page. All you have to do is place the code on your web page, and Google does the rest.

You can also sell individual ads, and determine your own terms and price. But using a program like Google is simple, and if your set gets a lot of visitors, you can make good money. Again, the best way to succeed is to find a niche, create a website around that topic, and Google will be able to determine the best ads for your visitors.

Write a “How-To” booklet
If you don’t want to sell other people’s products, but don’t have a lot of money to create your own, a simple way to get started is to write your own “how-to” booklet. Pick a topic you know enough to write about, and start writing. Information products are always good sellers – the key is to solve a particular problem. “How to catch fresh water fish” or “How to plan a fishing vacation on a tight budget” are possibilities for the fishing niche mentioned above.

To learn more, do a search for “creating information products” or “writing e-books”, and you will find lots of resources. Once you create your product, Clickbank.com offers a simple service to help you sell your information product, and there are others to help you get started.

Again, be creative, there are lots of problems out there that people need help with. And offering a good solution can make you lots of money!

Making money online takes more than just building a website. You need to pick the right products or services. Then you need to find the right audience to sell those products and services. Then you need to promote your website to enough people so you can make money. For now, you should have enough ideas to get you started – even if you don’t have a product to sell yet!

7 Steps Of Mega Adsense Earners

Ecommerce Information
7 Steps Of Mega Adsense Earners
by: Andrew Daum
The Google AdSense program is like finding money in the street.

Kids in High School are making thousands of dollars a month with Adsense... Housewives, Retiree's, Mom and Pop's who've never made a dime on the Internet have created full time incomes by simply placing AdSense Ads on their web site or blog.

Then you have the "Super AdSense" earners. We have all heard of them... the Elite few who are on track to make half a million dollars a year or more promoting AdSense sites.

Do not be mistaken though... these people are not building like your Mom and Pop's do. They have systems in place that create sites for them... people who build sites for them... they have outsourced and automated many of the tedious tasks such as posting to blogs and searching for keywords.

While most people cannot emulate everything these Super AdSense earners do... many of them you can.

Here are 7 Required Steps you can implement today to copy their success.

1) Starting today... treat your AdSense business like it is a REAL business and track what you do.

Begin tracking what you are doing that works... as well as what you are doing that does not work. This will keep you from making the same mistakes over and over, and you can repeat the steps that have worked in the past. As simple as this step seems... most people do not know the reason(s) to their success or failure.

2) Utilize the latest tools and software available.

The Super AdSense earners are not any smarter than your average person. I know many people think they are... but for the most part, they are regular non techie people.

They are smarter in one respect though... they use the latest tools available to them to automate most of the tasks involved with researching and creating sites. They use the latest keyword, site creation and search engine optimization tools available. The tools they use are their secret weapons.

3) Quit chasing the Mega Dollar keywords.

You cannot compete with the search engine experts who create sites for the $80 payout keywords. You may get lucky every now and then... but in the long run, you are better off building sites for the low to mid range payout keywords. The competition is less, and your chance of success is much higher over the long term.

4) Choose broad niches and break it down.

Choose a broad subject as your main theme (lets use computers for an example). From there... break it down into as many sub niches as possible.

Using Computers as the example... you could build sub niches/sites like laptop computers, computer hard drives, computer keyboards, etc, etc. You could literally build hundreds of sites around one major theme and stay totally focused. Once you have exhausted every possible sub niche of that major theme... choose another main theme and repeat the process.

5) KISS

Keep your sites easy to navigate and forget the fancy graphics that distract your visitors attention. Unless you are just building AdSense sites for the fun of it and to impress your friends... the purpose of having the site is to have people click on one of the ads, right? Then keep the site layout simple... dump the scrolling banners, dancing chickens and colored scroll bars... they are distractions.

6) What is the purpose of your web site?

Your web site cannot be everything to everybody. If you have a full fledged ecommerce site, with products for sale... links to other products, it is not a good site for AdSense. If the primary focus of the site is to sell products... let it do that.

Do not distract or confuse your visitor with to many options or choices. The best AdSense sites are AdSense only content sites that sell nothing. They are sites that "Tell"... not "Sell."

7) Be consistent.

This is not one of those deals where you build one site and you are done. Refer back to Step #4. You must continuously build in order to be successful.

Think of it as planting a crop that you will harvest in a month or two, and the sites you build are seeds. Once the seeds have grown and matured... you will reap the harvest. The more seeds you plant... the larger the harvest.

To sum it up... utilize the tools available to automate as much of the process of building sites - doing research and building keyword lists as you can. This alone will help keep you organized and on track. Be consistent in building... treat it like the business it is and you will reap the rewards of your harvest.

3 Fastest Ways To Get Traffic To Any Website

Ebook Information
3 Fastest Ways To Get Traffic To Any Website
by: Jim Edwards
ฉ Jim Edwards - All Rights reserved
http://www.thenetreporter.com

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

After all the debate over website design, shopping carts
and credit card processors, every website owner eventually
comes to the startling realization that they need one more
thing to survive - website traffic!

Without website traffic it's the same as building an
expensive billboard and, instead of placing it alongside a
busy highway, hiding it in your *basement* where nobody can
see it.

Upon realizing they need traffic, most website owners run
out and start blowing chunks of money and time trying to
get "hits," but they fail to grasp that there are really
only three (3) reliable ways to get traffic to any website.

Method #1 - Buy Traffic
Currently, the fastest way to get traffic to any website
involves using the little classified ads on the right side
of search giant Google's results pages.

Called Google AdWords, the system allows any advertiser to
open an account with a $5 activation fee and start seeing
their ads appear on Google within about 15 minutes.

Advertisers only pay when visitors actually click through
from their ad on Google to their website or affiliate link.

Overture.com also sells traffic by the click, but they make
you wait three to five days to go through their editorial
review process before allowing ads to appear on their
network.

You can also buy advertising on dozens of other pay-per-
click search engines.

They all follow the same basic model of only charging
advertisers for targeted visitors who read an ad based on a
keyword search and decide to click through for more
information.

Log on to www.payperclicksearchengines.com for a list of
over 600 choices ranked by market penetration.

A word to the wise on pay-per-click advertising: Watch your
costs and track and measure everything. Even though you can
get traffic for as little as a penny, you should track your
results by search engine and by individual keyword if you
want maximum success.

Many a company has lost its entire advertising budget
paying only a nickel or a dime per click, but not watching
their conversion rates and pouring money into keywords that
don't convert... while neglecting the keywords that do
bring sales (mainly because they don't know which is
which!).

Method #2 - Borrow Traffic
If you need traffic to a website, then borrow it from
people who already have it... especially people with lists
of loyal subscribers or traffic from search engines,
affiliates, or other steady sources.

"Endorsed Mailings" and "Reciprocal Linking" by other
people represent the two fastest ways to borrow someone
else's traffic.

If they maintain a list of subscribers, convince them to
send an email out to their people telling them why they
should check out your site.

Also, negotiate a prominent link on their web pages to
siphon off targeted visitors who find their website.

Often the best way to persuade someone to do this involves
paying them a commission, agreeing to do a similar mailing,
or providing a link to them on your site (or a combination
of all three).

Imagine how much traffic you could get if someone with a
list of 10,000 loyal subscribers told their people to go
look at your website!

Method #3 Recycle Traffic
The most economical way to get traffic involves turning
one-time visitors into regular, repeat visitors that you
direct to multiple sites over time.

You do this by pulling website visitors into your sphere of
influence by enticing them to sign up for your newsletter,
autoresponder sequence, or "mini-course."

Then you keep in contact with regular articles, special
reports, and recommendations enticing them to visit your
own and other people's websites.

Ultimately, every website owner should orient all of their
marketing efforts towards this end of developing a stream
of recycled traffic, because it costs the least and creates
the best return on time and money invested.

It doesn't matter if you promote your own product, promote
only as an affiliate, or some combination of the two... if
you don't recycle traffic and get more than one hit out of
each visitor, you're making one of the biggest mistakes
anyone can make online.

3 Unusual Formats For Auctions on eBay

All about eBay
3 Unusual Formats For Auctions on eBay
by: Sydney Johnston
eBay users are accustomed to only two "standard" formats for
sales on eBay: either the 'regular' auction which involves
bidding and waiting; and the Buy It Now, which is an instant
purchase.

But there are three other formats that are less well known.

1. Live Auctions

Before eBay, the traditional auction included live bodies in
chairs and an auctioneer up front (talking so fast he was
frequently unintelligible). Any buyer can still participate
in these live auctions via eBay. Live auctions are a hybrid
- a buyer is 'sort of' present in a live setting yet is at
home using an Internet connection.

The products for sale are usually expensive and unusual.
There are such items as expensive and unique coins, Asian
art, native American artifacts, incredible jewelry, costly
furniture, memorabilia from major sports stars and even
history. Today, for instance, there are documents signed by
John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, James Madison and Ulysses
Grant (he confides that he was strenuously opposed to the
"wicked" war with Mexico).

If you choose to participate in a live auction, be certain
that you register first because you can't just drop in on a
whim.

You can find all the details here:
http://www.ebayliveauctions.com

2. Private Auctions

Private auctions are similar to the typical auction that
we're all familiar with except for one detail - the
identities of the bidders are kept secret. Only the seller
has access to the names.

Why would anyone create a private auction? It's usually for
one of three reasons:

* The item is quite expensive and buyers might be
uncomfortable having others know they can afford such
merchandise. Their concern about their financial status is
most likely misplaced because it is quite possible to
distance yourself from eBay contact information, but much of
selling is about perception.

* The buyers might be embarrassed by the nature of the
merchandise.

* Some sellers habitually use private auctions to make it
harder for their competition to snoop on them.

3. Restricted Access Auctions

This is usually for sales of "adult" items. The main purpose
is to prevent children from seeing this kind of merchandise,
and is similar to having covers on racy magazines at store
checkouts.

To bid on these items, the buyer must:

* Be 18 years old

* Must have supplied credit card information to eBay.The
theory is that no one under 18 can get a credit card and
therefore cannot get into these sections.

* Agree that he is voluntarily accessing restricted access
auctions

In addition, restricted auctions are excluded from the
Featured pages. So if you are a seller using this format,
your listing will be harder to find.

Even though they are less well known, these three formats
for auctions on eBay still account for tens of millions of
dollars in sales each year. If they suit your business
model, you might consider them.

3 Ways To STOP Affiliate Link "Hijackers"

Ezine Information

3 Quick and Easy Ways to Generate Story Ideas

Essay Writing Tips
3 Quick and Easy Ways to Generate Story Ideas
by: Shery Ma Belle Arrieta-Russ

There are many ways you can generate ideas you can use for your stories, articles and other creative pieces. Start with the three ways given below:

1. Put Your 5 Senses to Work

A simple but effective way to generate fresh ideas from a single concept, idea or object is to describe or illustrate it using the 5 senses -- sight, smell, touch, taste, sound.

For you to do: Generate 5 specific images or concrete examples (one example for each sense) for the following:

  • vindication (what's the smell of vindication? how does it taste? how does it sound? what does it look like? how does it feel?)
  • hesitation
  • celebration

2. Take Advantage of Your Conflicts

Conflict is a part of life. It's also a source of creativity. You only need to look at yourself and examine your experiences to come up with ideas based on conflicts.

For you to do: What's stopping you from doing something? Who is in the way of you getting what you want? What's stopping you from taking a career leap? Brainstorm for conflicts in your life and come up with at least 15 in your list.

3. It's OK to Call People Names

Generate nicknames or terms that capture the lifestyles, attitudes or characteristics of certain groups of people.

For example, the nicknames I came up for the kind of people I encountered on the bus when I used to commute to work and back were: space-hog, slumper, fidgeter and refined. The terms described how the people on the bus behaved as they sat. [They were useful because I was able to avoid the space-hogs and the fidgeters when choosing a seat. Sitting beside a slumper was all right, since most slumpers kept their slumps within their space ;o)]

For you to do: Generate nicknames or terms for the following groups of people:

  • cashiers
  • waiters
  • teachers
  • employees
  • actors

Begin using these 3 simple ways of generating ideas today. Before long, you'll be churning out one idea after another with ease. That's creativity at work!

5 Reasons NOT To Have a Marketing Plan

eMarketing Information
5 Reasons NOT To Have a Marketing Plan
by: Bobette Kyle
Imagine your perfect customers -- the ones that will eagerly buy your products or hire you for premium pay. Imagine being able to bring those perfect customers to you and having them buy your products or services not once, but again and again. That's what an effectively executed marketing plan does. It reaches the people who want what you are offering, convinces them to take action, and keeps them coming back.

Sounds nice, right? So why doesn't every business have a marketing plan? Let's take a look at some of the reasons you may not:

1. "We had a marketing plan once, but it didn't work. It isn't worth the time to put one together."

No marketing plan will work if you do not work the plan. The planning document is there for business managers to use as a strategic reference throughout the year, as programs in the plan are executed and as other opportunities come along. Any marketing plan that is filed away and forgotten as soon as it's written is useless.

2. "So-and-so had a marketing plan and it didn't help his business at all!"

Marketing is a process, not a singular event. A marketing plan is only the first step in that process. It points your business in the right direction by detailing marketing strategies and programs that will move you toward business objectives.

You must execute the programs in your plan so that you can evaluate program success. Rarely does a marketing program work best on the first try. It is up to you to analyze barriers to success, then tweak and tinker until you are getting positive results. If you ignore critical follow-up, most of your marketing programs -- whether you have a marketing plan or not -- will fail or fall short of their potential for success.

3. "Marketing planning is too hard."

Writing a marketing plan doesn't have to be complicated. There are different levels of planning. More intricate marketing planning processes will result in more refined strategies, with better potential for success. But, if you have limited resources, a top-line approach to planning is much better than none at all.

4. "We don't know how to write a marketing plan."

There are numerous books, software, "toolbox" resources, and articles that take you step-by-step through the process of creating a marketing plan. Frankly, not knowing how is an excuse, not a reason, to avoid marketing planning.

5. "My business is too small for a marketing plan."

Sound marketing strategy is critical to small business success, especially new businesses. Statistics vary widely depending on the source, but most reports cite failure rates for small business at 65% -- 90%. Knowing ahead of time how you will compete and how you will be successful in your marketplace can dramatically increase your chances of success.

Your marketing plan is a vital key to small business success. If you do not have a current plan, start one today. Your company's success depends on it.
